It's hard to believe that we are open 6 years on Saturday the 1st of November, where has the time gone? Every year has been busy but 2014 was exceptionally busy for us here at Anu Beauty, Simon & I got married on August 23rd and a few weeks later Aideen & Stephen welcomed their son Luca into the world on September 26th.
Everyone has been asking me loads of questions in relation to my wedding preparation and what kind of treatments brides to be should have done prior to the "big day" so here's what it took to make an average girl become all that is expected of a modern day bride......
Although everyone thinks that we beauty therapists have loads of beauty treatments all the time, we don't always but coming up to the wedding I made a huge effort to fit in one facial a month starting in January so my August I had eight and I have to say my skin felt great, so soft, smooth & I managed to get a few you look radiant comments!!!
Aideen started me off on a course if Dermalogica age smart facials, bare in mind the average age of brides now stands at 31 in Ireland so we have some work to do to compete with the very young models they use in most of the bridal magazines! I would recommend coming in for a Dermalogica facial at least six months prior to your big day so that we can have a look at your skin & recommend some skin care products, if you have skin concerns like acne or pigmentation you may want to come in prior to this to resolve any skin issues, please don't forget the importance of your home skin care routine either .Arriving a couple of weeks prior to your wedding day will not allow enough time to get your skin into its best condition.
I always say you can't under estimate a good lash & brow tint & shape, it can transform people's eyes, it certainly makes you look more awake without wearing make up and it's great for holidays/honeymoon while swimming.I think it's a must for any bride to be.
Siobhan prepped my feet with some extremely relaxing pedicures including a callus peel to remove any hard skin and I chose to go with ESSIE "ballet slippers" on my hands and feet, it looked clean, delicate & manicured and was something different from the usual choice of most brides French polish.
We all applied St. Tropez tan for the wedding and looking at the professional photos I'm glad it looked so natural, too often brides are too dark.
Obviously because I've been working with laser since 2003, I've had all my laser hair removal done, I can't recommend Candela highly enough especially for facial hair growth or on your underarm if your wearing a strapless gown. The real benefit if this is on honeymoon/holidays and not having to care about hair removal, again please come in for your free consultation & patch test at least
6-12 months before your wedding.
